A Glimpse into The gateway
to Camarines Sur
Del Gallego, known as the “Gateway to Camarines Sur,” is more than just a passageway to the beauty of the entire Bicol Region. The town itself carries a rich identity shaped by traditions, the people, and their shared desire to keep the community’s spirit alive. Gallegueños thrive through farming, fishing, small businesses, and craftsmanship.
Culturally, Del Gallego is a unique meeting point between Tagalog-speaking Tagkawayan, Quezon and Bicol-speaking Ragay, Camarines Sur. Yet despite being in the middle of both, some of the Gallegueño vocabulary is not Bicol or Tagalog, and honestly, are words that you can only fully understand if you’ve lived in Del Gallego long enough. These funny local phrases reflect the daily life, humor, and creativity of the people. And something they keep even when life takes them to different places.
Maadyo pa rin sa bakod, matabsong pa rin sa ilog.
As the town grows and generations bloom, Del Gallego has birthed musicians, dancers, writers, athletes, and leaders. In many ways, the town’s charm makes Del Gallego not just a town that sits in between places but a community that stands strong. A home for talents. A worthy competitor. A colorful identity of its own.
